Salt n’ Pepper-Avial

Salt n’ Pepper-Avial

Before 2003 Avial was the name of a delicious south Indian Dish. That’s the year when the rockers of Kerala saw the rise up of a new rock band by the same name of the dish. Avial, the “Alternative Malayali Rock” changed the usual style of rock bands. The fusion of native folk music and alternative rock was well received by the head bangers all over India.

The band consists of Tony John (vocals), Rex Vijayan (guitars), Mithun Puthanveetil (drums), and Benny (bass).
Avial depicts the social scene of Kerala and the common man residing there about a hundred years back. The plight of farmers whose hard-earned crop was seized by the local landlords is clearly portrayed. The music also consists of folk songs that were predominantly sung by the workers in the paddy fields. This unlike the other majority of the conventional rock bands is a new trend.Avial is doing the OST of the movie Salt N’ Pepper. This is their first composition for a movie. The song is titled Aanakallan . Avial Performed live for the pooja function of the movie salt n pepper. The video of the live performance can be viewed below.  The Song is simply awesome
